Microsoft Office Application Course

Duration: 6 Months

• To introduce learners to the core applications within the Microsoft Office suite
• To develop the ability to create professional documents, spreadsheets, and presentations
• To equip learners with advanced skills in Excel data manipulation and automation
• To provide understanding of cloud collaboration and shared workspace tools
• To prepare learners for administrative and data entry roles in a modern office

Upon completion, learners will be able to:

  1. Apply advanced formatting and styles to complex Word documents.
  2. Prepare and process complex data using Excel formulas and functions.
  3. Post dynamic content to PowerPoint and produce professional slide decks.
  4. Account for email organization and reconcile calendars in Outlook.
  5. Identify and correct errors in data entry and spreadsheet logic.
Module 1: Advanced Document Processing (Word)

• Document structure: Sections, breaks, and layouts
• Mail Merge: Labels, envelopes, and personalized letters
• Principles of referencing: Tables of contents, captions, and bibliographies
• Reviewing tools: Tracking changes and comments
• Source documents: Templates, forms, and digital signatures

Module 2: Spreadsheet Mastery (Excel)

• Logical functions: IF, AND, OR, and Nested IFs
• Lookup functions: VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, and XLOOKUP
• PivotTables and PivotCharts for data summary
• Data validation and protection systems
• Macros and basic automation uses

Module 3: Data Visualization and Presentations (PowerPoint)

• Posting data from Excel into PowerPoint charts
• Slide Masters and custom theme development
• Balancing text and multimedia for effective communication
• Preparing a presentation for diverse audiences
• Identifying design errors and consistency issues

Module 4: Information Management (Outlook & Access)

• Principles of database management in Access
• Outlook rules, folders, and shared mailbox management
• Recording tasks and meetings in digital calendars
• Preparing and submitting professional email communications
• Database reconciliation: Forms, queries, and reports

Module 5: Collaboration and Cloud (Microsoft 365)

• Types of file sharing errors: Permissions and sync issues
• Using Microsoft Teams for real-time collaboration
• OneDrive and SharePoint cloud storage statements
• Collaborative editing and version control
• Introduction to Power BI for advanced business reporting
