Occupational Health And Safety Engineering Course

Duration: 6 Months

To provide learners with foundational knowledge and practical skills in occupational health and safety principles,hazard identification, workplace risk control, and compliance with safety regulations in industrial and construction environments.

Module 1: Introduction to Occupational Health & Safety

• Definition and importance of OH&S
• Scope of workplace safety in:
o Construction
o Manufacturing
o Oil & gas
• Roles and responsibilities of safety officer
• Safety culture and behavior
• Accident causation theories:
o Domino theory
o Human error model
• Introduction to UAE safety framework

Module 2: Workplace Hazards & Risk Identification

• Types of hazards:
o Physical (noise, heat, vibration)
o Chemical (toxic substances, gases)
o Biological (bacteria, viruses)
o Ergonomic hazards
• Hazard identification techniques
• Risk assessment process:
o Likelihood vs severity
• Risk classification (low, medium, high)
• Unsafe acts vs unsafe conditions

Module 3: Risk Control & Safety Measures

• Hierarchy of controls:
o Elimination
o Substitution
o Engineering controls
o Administrative controls
o PPE
• Safe work procedures (SWP)
• Permit to Work (PTW) system basics

• Fire prevention and control measures

Module 4: Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) & Safety Tools
