ASTI Dubai offers this International Diploma in Engineering with the approval of KHDA,Govt. of Dubai along with TVET,NQA & QAD. International Diploma in Engineering qualification is designed to prepare learners for higher studies in various engineering streams. This course is practical & skill oriented which makes the student very accectable to the engineering industry.

Upon successful completion of the course the student will have completed at least 17 units and 120 + credits. On completion of Level-3 the student can join first year of the UK University for Bachelors Degree or he/she can join Higher International Diploma.

International Diploma (1 Year)
The International Diploma is a level-3 qualification delivered over a year time. If a student opts to take the HID, the student would be eligible for a Higher international Diploma after successful completion of a minimum of 15 modules.

Intended Learning outcomes:

After completing the course, the student will be able to:
  • Apply the Knowledge of Technical Science, Applied Mathematics, Fundamentals and Principle to solve Engineering problems.
  • Possess applied Knowledge of Design, Manufacture, Safety, and Maintenance of Electrical Systems, Subsystem and Components.
  • Identify, Formulate, Analyze and solve Engineering and Industrial complex problems using applied Engineering Mathematics, Science and Engineering Principles.
  • An ability to develop a component, Product, and Process to encounter desired needs by considering various factors such as Health and Safety, Economic, Ethical, Manufacturability, and Sustainability.
  • Understand the Impact and Safety Practices of Engineering Solutions in Societal, Environmental, Global and Economic contexts.
  • Apply the knowledge of Basic Principles, Tools and Techniques to Perform Repair, Maintenance and Service Operation in Electrical System.
  • Apply the appropriate IT skills, modern Engineering tools and Techniques for engineering practice.
  • Effective communication by reading blueprint designs and drawing, resource and material requirements according to Electrical components manufacturing needs.
  • Engage themselves in life-long learning by recognizing the need and technological changes.
  • Apply engineering and management principles to manage projects in multidisciplinary environments.
The Internation Diploma Level 3 is made up of 120 credits and be completed over a years’ time & this qualification is usually studied full-time/part-time over one year.

The award is made up of 17 units: Mandatory core units are:

Safety principles in Engineering workplace

  • ULO1 - Comprehend the important features of health and safety.
  • ULO2 - Ability to identify hazards for a wide range of safety measures in a working environment.
  • ULO3 - Ability to handle a risk assessment and to identify a preventive measure

Technical Communication

  • ULO1 - Able to illustrate various engineering diagrams to communicate technical information.
  • ULO2 - To explore verbal and written communication in engineering settings.
  • ULO3 - To explore the usage of information and communication technology in engineering settings.

Engineering Mathematics

  • ULO1 - To be able to use appropriate algebraic methods to solve various equations.
  • ULO2 - To determine areas and volumes for various shapes and to use Trigonometric concepts.
  • ULO3 - Be able to use calculus methods.

Mechanical Engineering Principles

  • ULO1 - To determine the effects of loading in static engineering systems
  • ULO2 - To determine the effects of dynamic engineering systems
  • ULO3 - To determine the parameters of the fluid system

Basic Electrical Circuit theory

  • ULO1 - To determine voltage, current and resistance in simple DC circuits.
  • ULO2 – Ability to understand the fluid flow and heat transfer concepts in engine system.
  • ULO3 – Assess the performance of an internal combustion engine

Engineering Drawing

  • ULO1 - Ability to draw various engineering components.
  • ULO2 – To an understanding of engineering drawing and its standards
  • ULO3 - Ability to construct engineering drawings.

Principles of Electron Devices

  • ULO1 – Ability to understand the principle and operations of diodes, transistors and logic gates.
  • ULO2 – Ability to build and test combinational and sequential circuits.
  • ULO3 – Ability to analyze the characteristics of the Operational Amplifier in analog electronic circuits.

Welding Principles and applications

  • ULO1 – Able to know safe working practices in the welding industry.
  • ULO2 – Able to read and interpret welding symbols and communicate effectively to the production phase.
  • ULO3 – Ability to prepare welding procedure specification for manufacturing project according to standards.

CAD Analysis for Engineers

  • ULO1 - Able to know about different CAD software and their advantages.
  • ULO2 - Able to produce Limits, fits, and tolerance for the CAD model.
  • ULO3 - Abe to create a 2D sketch and 3D models in CAD software.

Principles and Applications of Linear IC’s

  • ULO1 - To discuss the construction and characteristics of an Op-Amp.
  • ULO2 – Analyze and design linear and non – linear circuits of Op-Amp.
  • ULO3 - To introduce the concepts of waveform generation and special function IC’s

Electrical Machines

  • ULO1- Ability to take the preventive measures in electrical hazard and understand the principles of electro-mechanical conversion
  • ULO2 - Acquire knowledge about the constructional details and principle of operation and working of DC machines.
  • ULO3 - Acquire knowledge about the constructional details, principle of operation, and working of AC machines.

Basic Civil Engineering

  • ULO1 - To become familiar with the processes and materials used in the constructions.
  • ULO2 - To be familiar with planning for the methods of civil construction.
  • ULO3 - To perform linear and leveling surveys to produce drawings.

Mechanical Workshop Practice

  • ULO1 - Identify workshop activity and manage the work area safely, with reference to the appropriate health and safety regulations and risk assessment criteria.
  • ULO2 – Identify and use appropriate workshop tools for performing operations like measuring, marking, drilling, cutting, shaping, Taping, Forming and Joining to the selected engineering materials
  • ULO3 – Able to use mechanical measurement and quality control process.

Internal Combustion Engines

  • ULO1 – Able to interpret engine design features.
  • ULO2 – Ability to calculate engine performance.
  • ULO3 – Analysis of the Combustion Process and Combustion chemistry.

Thermodynamics Principles and Applications

  • ULO1 – To understand the principles of thermodynamics in the expansion and compression of gases.
  • ULO2 – To measure energy transfer in thermodynamic systems.
  • ULO3 – To analyze combustion process requirements and the calorific value of fuels.

Basic Computer Science

  • ULO1 – Ability to perform diagnostic procedures and troubleshooting techniques to personal computers, portable devices, operating systems and computer peripherals
  • ULO2 – To investigate networking principles and their protocols.
  • ULO3 – Introduces underpinning services required to host, manage and access a secure website.


  • ULO1 - Ability to define, plan, organize a project with agreed procedures
  • ULO2 - Ability to formulate a project to find out problem solutions.
  • ULO3 - Ability to implement a project within the stipulated time period.

Learner must score a minimum of 120 credits to be awarded level 3 Diploma.
The learning and teaching strategy for International Diploma (Level 3) are designed effectively & efficiently so as to attain the 120 credits ,& gain the intended learning outcomes as per the module.

The general approach to enabling the learning process for most modules involves:

Due to the wide variety of modules included in this programme, there may be different approaches adopted that are appropriate for a particular module. At the start of each module, tutors will provide a scheme of work which details the module structure, assessment and learning and teaching approaches to be adopted.

  • Learners who possess Qualifications at Level 2 and/or 10th ;
  • Age: 16 +

Scholarships covering 20 % of tuition fees are provided to students.

A limited number of scholarships are available for students with outstanding academic performance and personal qualities.
